Voakes Pies win second year running
Voakes Pies were crowned champions at the 2009 Great Yorkshire Pork Pie, Sausage, Black Pudding and Beefburger championships in Bradford.
Andrew and James Voakes run the business from Whixley Grange, near Green Hammerton and have now won the same supreme title on four occasions. They also took the reserve supreme title with their small pork pie and their pork, chicken and stuffing pie was runner-up in the speciality cold eating pie class.
The Voakes have competed since going into business in 1998 and use pork from pigs reared on their farm. Andrew Voakes said "We don't change anything, we keep everything just the same. If it isn't broken don't fix it".
The contest had a celebrity judge in actor Peter Armitage from nearby Skipto who plays Bill Webster in Coronation Street
