CHRISTMAS 2008 NEWSLETTER |
The seasonal cold snap and some spectacular sunsets are making the run up to Christmas 2008 particularly special. The frosty nip in the air is also a real bonus for adding a delicious extra flavour to parsnips and sprouts. We hope you enjoy trying the two delicious recipes in this newsletter.
North Yorkshire’s farm shops, butchers and deli’s, really come into their own at Christmas. Farm fresh Turkey’s, Geese, delicious juicy hams, tasty pies and wonderful home grown vegetables are all available in abundance, making it really easy to get lots of inspiration for family meals and entertaining. And with many of the farm shops now boasting a cafe, you will be able to treat yourself to a festive glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate or coffee and a warm mince pie, after all the shopping.
You may even be able to solve some of your Christmas gift shopping too, by creating your own foodie hamper, or giving a special foodie gift – who wouldn’t love to find a bottle of locally made Sloe Gin or Brandy, a truckle of Wensleydale or Swaledale cheese or a selection of unusual chutneys, in their Christmas stocking.
North Yorkshire Christmas markets are in full swing over the coming weeks, so wrap up warm and get into the festive spirit.
Wishing you and your family a very Happy Christmas,
The North Yorkshire Local Food Team
