Welcome to the Spring newsletter. Spring is the time when new flowers grow, blossom appears on the trees and grass grows green beneath the feet. So what better time to buy those seasonal fruits and vegetables and begin cooking some home comforting meals.

Farm shops, retailers and producers found on our website provide a range of fabulous foods that offer nutritional tastes and flavours.

So once you have finished reading the ‘newsy’ items why not take a look at our where to buy section and purchase some of the fantastic quality products available. The website also gives further information on other foods in season and recipes that you can use.

We hope you enjoy reading it.

Yours sincerely,

The North Yorkshire Local Food Team

Fall in Love with Local Food Guide 2009
Good food and North Yorkshire go hand in hand, but to find out exactly where to get your hands on the County’s culinary delights you will need a guide!

North Yorkshire County Council is updating their Fall in Love with Local Food Guide for 2009. The guide provides details on where to buy, including baking, dairy products, drinks, fish, meat, fruit and vegetables, herbs, honey and sauces. It also lists farm shops and farmers markets, as well as a wide range of cafés, pubs and restaurants serving North Yorkshire local produce. The guide has a foreword by local business entrepreneur Judy Bell of Shepherds Purse Cheeses Ltd.

The guide will be available early May and is a handy little guide that can be kept in the kitchen or in the car! So watch out for further details on how you can get your hands on one.

Since the publication of the last newsletter, we are delighted to welcome all our new member to our website. It is exciting to see all the fabulous local produce available at all these pubs, restaurants, cafes and hotels across the County.
